Today marks the start of Cancer Council’s March Charge, which will see hundreds of South Australians set themselves a walking, running or moving challenge for the month, all while raising vital funds for Cancer Council SA.
Participants can Charge as an individual or join other Chargers and compete as a team by setting a kilometre or hour goal—it can be as simple as getting off the bus a couple of stops earlier or braving that gym class you’ve wanted to try.
Cancer Council SA Chief Executive Lincoln Size said: “Nearly 1,900 Australian cancer cases each year are caused by a lack of exercise and we also know that a third of cancer cases are preventable by living a healthy lifestyle.
“A huge congratulations to all those who have made a commitment to charge towards a cancer free future this March. You will not only be supporting thousands diagnosed with cancer each year, but also reducing your own cancer risk by being active.”
“We’re looking forward to seeing you achieve your goals and support all those impacted by cancer.”
Funds raised will support Cancer Council SA’s lifesaving cancer research, vital information and support services and cancer prevention programs to reduce cancer in the community.
