Join us on Wednesday, 11 September and find out how you can help us celebrate 20 years of Adelaide Central Relay For Life in 2020.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Adelaide Central Relay for Life is the largest Relay in the state, bringing together teams of all ages to relay towards a cancer free future.
A community fundraising challenge held over 19 hours, Relay sees teams raise money in the lead up to an overnight event, where participants take turns walking around a track to signify that cancer never rests, so neither do we.
At the last event in 2019, the Adelaide community raised over $165,000 to support South Australians impacted by cancer, taking the Adelaide Central Relay For Life fundraising total to more than $4 million since it started 20 years ago.
Adelaide Central Relay For Life Event Lead Jason Ford encouraged South Australians of all ages to get involved and register to relay in 2020.
“The Adelaide Central Relay For Life has become an iconic part of Cancer Council SA’s yearly calendar and we’re thrilled to be celebrating 20 years of the event next year,” he said.
“Relay for Life really is an event like no other. Filled with entertainment and activities over 19 hours, it’s a chance to remember those who have lost their lives to cancer, celebrate those who have survived and support those who are still undergoing treatment.”
“Most importantly, it brings whole community together to raise funds towards a cancer free future.”
Cancer Council SA is hoping to see more than 80 teams take to the showgrounds this year and show the community that because cancer never sleeps, we’ll never give up.
If you’ve never relayed before and want to find out more, Cancer Council SA will be hosting a free information session on Wednesday, 11 September at 6.30pm at the Cancer Council SA offices.
